Course Objectives The aim of this course is to teach students the working principles of devices used to collect qualitative and quantitative information about the composition and structure of matter.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • will be able to explain basic principles and methods of atomic spectroscopy.
  • will be able to describe the theory of molecular spectroscopy.
  • will be able to describe the working principles of instruments used in instrumental analysis.
  • will be able to list sorting and purification methods.
  • will be able to explain chromatographic methods by example.
Course Description This course includes topics such as atomic spectroscopy (atomic absorption and atomic fluorescence spectrometry, atomic mass spectrometry, atomic X-ray spectrometry) molecular spectroscopy (UV-Vis spectrometry, IR spectrometry, NMR spectroscopy) and separation-purification (GC, HPLC) methods.
